MORE COLOR PICTURES

Within the main colors of the Sheltie are many variations in shading (sables and merles) and patterns (the distribution of white and/or tan).   There are no rare colors in Shelties.  Less than ethical breeders may attempt to sell a "rare liver" or "blue tri-color."  In reality, these are nothing rare, it is just ethical breeders will not intentionally breed dogs with faults.  However, it should be noted, that though the American Kennel Club severely faults dogs with more than 50% white, other show venues do not fault such Shelties. Nor does a Sheltie have to have the full white collar in order to be showable. Shelties can be flashy or plain.
